PTV Optima keeps traffic and public transit operations running smoothly by monitoring real-time PT vehicle data and managing delays. The 2025 version now supports the automatic update of PT services each time a new timetable is released, ensuring smooth operations without manual intervention from the data center. It also automatically detects GIS inconsistencies between the PT service and the network, preventing erroneous publications, minimizing errors and allowing the update process to quickly identify and resolve them.
Improved accuracy of TomTom Live Traffic
PTV Optima 2025 supports the new TomTom Traffic Flow Detailed, with Dynamic Sectioning option. With Dynamic Sectioning, the speeds provided by TomTom are defined on variable length segments along the usual reference road, providing a more accurate location of congestion and therefore a more accurate congestion prediction by Optima.

Automated Email Alerts for KPIs
This feature is designed to keep traffic operators ahead of the curve by alerting them about potential issues before they escalate into major problems. When users receive an automated email alert, they can click on the email to go directly to the relevant section in PTV Flows, allowing for immediate assessment and action. Administrators can configure the alert of a KPI in order to send emails for different levels of alarm severity to different sets of recipients (e.g. patrol units, municipalities).
Alerts for atypical travel times
Static thresholds and KPI set for peak hours often miss irregularities during off-peak hours, and vice versa. The new adaptive and dynamic alerts automatically define what constitutes “unusual travel times” with adjustments made for each hour and each day of the week. Through the analysis of historical data, the system identifies anomalies indicating unusual conditions, such as heavy traffic or unexpected congestion. Consequently, travel time KPIs are established without relying on static, predefined thresholds.
